Petition
In June 2009 the Committee submitted a petition signed by more than 600 Port Moody residents in support of an Evergreen station located in Western Port Moody to both Port Moody Council and to the TransLink Board of Directors.
Public Opinion Research
In November 2009, the Committee commissioned a telephone survey of 200 local participants conducted by the Mustel Group to gauge the community’s opinion on a West Port Moody station. Not surprisingly, the professional public opinion research showed that more than 70 percent of area residents support the station and almost two-thirds would use it. By stark contrast, less than 25 percent indicated they would use the Evergreen Line in the absence of a third western station.

Urban Planning and Visioning Process – Mural/TransLink
In November 2009, Committee members presented Evergreen Line’s project director Dave Duncan with a vision for a revitalized Moody Centre that could emerge around a western station. That vision includes a range of new commercial outlets, light industry, shops, townhomes and apartments.
Committee representative Robert Simons said in a release, “It was clear to us that the Evergreen Line is now looking to Port Moody city, its council and residents to create sufficient flexibility in future land uses around a western station to encourage transit-oriented development and ridership.”
