Mission

Port Moody Western Station Committee is a grass roots citizens’ group representing both businesses and residents in West Port Moody and Moody Centre. We seek an Evergreen Line Station to be built in the first phase of development as close to the Barnet Highway as possible, and together with the Murray-Clarke Connector.

Key Milestones

WSC has demonstrated broad based local support for a SkyTrain station located in Western Port Moody evidenced by the following:

  • Membership currently exceeds more than 50 individuals and organizations.
  • Submitted a petition signed by more than 600 supportive Port Moody residents, shared with the City, EGL and TransLink’s Board during a presentation in Oct of 2009.
  • Released results from Mustel Group public opinion research – more than 70 percent of area residents support the station and almost two-thirds would use it. By stark contrast, less than 25 percent indicated they would use the Evergreen Line in the absence of a third western station.
  • Undertook an Urban Planning and Visioning Process with VIA Architecture resulting in a mural, illustrating how the station could integrate into the community – shared with Council and presented to Evergreen Line’s project director Dave Duncan. That vision includes a range of new commercial outlets, light industry, shops, townhomes and apartments.
