Community Benefits of a 3rd Evergreen Line Station at the Western Gateway to Port Moody

  • Will help realize the goals identified by the citizens of Port Moody through various public meetings since 2006, such as:
    • Preserve the Heritage Character of Old Port Moody
    • Develop an Arts and Culture Centre for “The City of the Arts”
    • Revitalize Moody Centre
    • Increase Economic Development in Moody Centre
    • Enhance the livability of the City through environmental stewardship
  • Will provide a focus for shaping land use options at the West End of Old Port Moody, which will avoid a ghost town at the Western Gateway to the City
  • Will extend the award winning livability of Port Moody all the way to the West End of the City by fostering walkable living
  • Will link Glenayre, College Park, Seaview, Harbour Heights, East Hill, and Seaforth into a revitalized Old Port Moody
  • Will increase Boutique Commerce in Old Port Moody and attract long overdue specialty grocery, retail shops, and services to the West End of Port Moody
  • Will enhance the Heritage Character of the West End of Moody Centre, by encouraging renewal of historic buildings in revitalizing the area
  • Will create access to a renewed Arts Centre in Old Port Moody for patrons of the Arts from all over the Lower Mainland, helping “The City of the Arts” find a larger audience for all its talented people
  • Will increase ridership on the Evergreen Line by offering local residents a way to leave their cars at home, as well as making Old Port Moody a destination for transit use from all around Metro Vancouver
